Calculating distance with different speeds Essential question: How do we calculate distance with diffferent speeds? L.D

Math 7D
Notes: a/b x c/d= ac/bd
Concept: miles/hr x min/1
or miles/hr x min/ 60min
vocabulary words: Problem 4.3
A. Make a graph showing Sascha’s total distance traveled over time. Use 5-minute time intervals on the x-axis. B. How far did Sascha travel in his 1-hour ride? Explain. Sascha traveled 26.25 miles in his 1-hour ride. Sascha speed was not steady. C. If you could maintain a steady speed of 13 miles per hour on a bike, how long would it take you to travel the same distance Sascha traveled in his 1- hour ride?
If I could maintain a steady speed of 13 miles per hour it will take me 2hours and 20 minutes to travel the same distance Sascha traveled in his 1-hour ride. D. If you were racing Sascha, what constant (steady) speed would you have to maintain to tie him?
The constant speed that I will need to tie Sascha will be about 24 miles per hour.
Problem 4.3 follow-up Can you write a single equation that will allow you to predict Sascha’s total distance at any time during his 1-hour ride? Why or why not? No you can't write a single equation that will allow me to predict Sascha's total distance at any time because the speed changes. He is not going on a constant speed. If we were to find the average speed we can write a single equation.
